Literacy Leveler App Reviews

I recently purchased 20 chapters books and found only 6 were able to be levelled using this app. I hope you update your database of books frequently as I disappointed so few were able to be levelled.

This app is a great one but needs some improvements. Many titles are not listing dra, Lexile, etc. I found a book that had the wrong title for the isbn scanned. There should be an error report capability. I found another book that showed a picture of a title page rather than the cover. I could have corrected it with a quick snapshot of my book cover. Even if we could send in corrections to an administrator for approval, that would be wonderful. Ive also got a few books that wont come up by author or title. We should be able to request that to be updated also. I would enter the isbn and pictures if the option was available. These updates would make it a 5 star app.

I really like this app. I really like that you can create your own library with all your books. However, it does need the capability of taking a picture in case the app does not have a picture of the book. Several books do not have GRL levels which are very important to me for leveling my books for my students.

I love this app! My daughter is a struggling reader, going into 2nd grade. Its nice to scan a book she reads well and see that its at or slightly above grade level! We also use it while buying books or at the library to be sure and choose books that are at her level, but also get some that give her a bit of a challenge.

I was so excited when I scanned my first picture book and all the information was magically entered in my library. Unfortunately, information for many of my paperbacks, purchased from Scholastic, was not available. Also, several books had a title, but no picture for the book cover.

I am a third grade teacher, and I absolutely love this app for leveling my books. It makes everything so much easier. For books that will not scan, you simply just have to type in the title and search. Highly recommended!

The concept and ease of use are wonderful! But about 40% of the books that are scanned are not recognized. If the ones that are it mostly only gives a Lexile. Not a lot of help for those needing GRL. I wish I could manually add books, scan them and take a picture and add the reading levels myself if I am able to find them. It would be nice to be able to email myself a list of the books so I can print it for easy organizing and referencing as well as sharing with others what books are in the current library.

Used this level my classroom library. Definitely worth the money. Super easy to use. Scanner works well on all books with barcodes.

This app is very easy to use. I was able to scan around 200 books in about half an hour. I just wish it provided more GRL levels. About half of the books that I scanned only had a Lexile listed.

As a new teacher, Ive been acquiring my classroom library throughout the year and adding the books with no real system of organization. One of my big to-dos was to make the library useable, so I thought Id spend a teacher work day googling the level of each book. I ended up stumbling on this app, downloaded it, and had my library leveled and organized in 3 hours! I can only give this app 4 stars though, because it mostly only recognizes scholastic books, and even some of those arent recognized. I also ran into the problem of only being given the Lexile level on about 15% of my books, which is completely useless to me. Another 30% or so of my books also either werent in the system or didnt have any level information on them. Other than that, I love knowing that my students can take a book and put it back in the right place!

Great app for scanning and identifying which books align to my sons reading level and which ones to hold off on for now. Its wonderful to be consistent and in alignment with school and home. I only wish this app had a way to submit the books for leveling, or enter our books so that when leveling is determined, the levels are automatically updated in our libraries.

I was so excited about this app, but after purchasing this to finish leveling my library, I realized it wasnt worth the money. The majority of the books I tried to level, werent in the database, and if they were they werent leveled for GR. Stick with the free Scholastic Book Leveler app. This app just isnt worth it.

The app works well on my iPhone and iPad 2. I wish I had known before I bought it that it doesnt back up and it cant sync between devices. I added one book to my library from my iPad and one from my phone. They dont show up in the other place. They also dont seem to save or backup. That makes me nervous to input my entire library. I dont want to waste all of that time if my phone crashes or something! Outside of that, I love how you can add notes for each book (I added AR information) and that each student gets a passcode to use it. I like it, but I have a hard time recommending it without either the backup or sync option.

The leveling system is a great resource! I just finished leveling over 2,000 books and only a small handful of books were not in this system. It is a very user friendly tool and easy to navigate. The only issue I had was some of the books cover pictures were not of the book but of a personal picture instead. The library system needs to be checked over to ensure that the personal pictures are removed. Also would be nice is there was a place where we could enter book titles that cannot be found so they could be entered into our library and tracked to be added to the main program at a later time during an update.

Hard to scan, limited ratings

Easy to use and very useful. I recommend this app to any teacher trying to organize a classroom library. EXCELLENT support/help too if you have questions.

Has none of the books my sister 2ed grader is reading :(:(:( would NOT recommend for 2ed graders

Love the app. Sad that I didnt learn about it soon. It is missing several GRL for a few of my books.

I just scanned a stack of 30 or so books and not a single one had any information on it except the title. A waste of money.
